DO YOU OFFER TRIAL LESSONS? +
Yes, your 1st lesson with Song of Stars is a no obligation one time lesson. This gives you the opportunity to meet your instructor and to see if we are a fit.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR LESSONS? +
When filling out our registration form’s you will have the option to give us either a pre-authorized credit card number or your bank info (void check) for auto draft payments from a checking account.
For your one time trial lesson, prior to registration, we’ll send you an online invoice for you to pay by credit card or we ask that you come prepared with cash for check.
WHEN REGISTERED, WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT TO BE CHARGED FOR LESSONS? +
All payments are processed on the first of the month. However, for your 1st month’s tuition you’ll be charged within that month once we receive and are able to input your payment information. 1st months tuition is prorated if, for example, you register in the middle of the month.
WHY AM I CHARGED THE SAME AMOUNT EVERY MONTH WHEN SOME MONTHS ARE 5 WEEK MONTHS AND SOME ARE 3 WEEK MONTHS? +
We charge an average of 4 weeks per month.
Monthly tuition is based on a 34 week year for lessons scheduled on Mondays, 39 weeks for lessons scheduled on Tuesday through Friday and Sundays, and 40 weeks for lessons scheduled on Saturdays, beginning Sept 4, 2018 and ending June 30, 2019.
Lessons not included in the term are Christmas Break, Spring Break and all statutory holidays (including Easter Sunday). Lessons will be taught on Good Friday and Remembrance Day.
The tuition is the SAME each month; i.e. we don’t charge you more when you have five lessons, and we don’t charge you less when you have three lessons in a month. This makes everyone’s accounting easier.
WHAT IF I CAN’T MAKE IT TO A LESSON, WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? +
All lessons must be taken at the students regularly scheduled time. Refunds, credits or makeup lessons will not be granted for scheduled lessons missed by the student.
However, Song of Stars will provide up to 2 makeup lesson dates (1 before the Christmas Showcase and 1 before the Summer Showcase) which gives you the opportunity to makeup a maximum of 2 lessons within the year. The date for these make up lessons will be pre-determined by your instructor.
In order to qualify for a makeup lesson you must provide us a 1-week notice of when your lesson will be missed (please contact the office at firstname.lastname@example.org and not your instructor).
WHAT IF MY INSTRUCTOR IS UNAVAILABLE AND OR SICK AND CAN’T MAKE IT TO LESSONS? +
For any lessons missed by a teacher, Song of Stars will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute teacher is unavailable, a private makeup lesson with the teacher will be scheduled promptly. If either a sub or a make up lesson doesn’t work out you will be issued a refund.
WHAT LESSON LENGTH IS BEST FOR ME? +
We recommend 60 min lessons for most people in order to get the most value out of your time. However we do offer 45 min and 30 min lesson times mainly for younger children.
If you are interested in a hybrid lesson (I.e. voice and guitar), we do require a minimum of a 60 min lesson (30 min’s per discipline).
WHAT IF I WANT TO DISCONTINUE LESSONS? +
To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, we require that you fill out a withdrawal form before the 15th of your last month (Downloadable withdrawal form seen below).
We do not prorate tuition for the last months lessons. Students will be responsible for their last months tuition whether or not they attend lessons. May 1st is the last day for students to withdraw from lessons with a given withdrawal form by April 15.
If you chose to pay in larger amount’s (i.e. a full years tuition) or have used funding there will be no partial refunds.
AS A PARENT, AM I ABLE TO SIT IN ON LESSONS? +
Yes, parents are always allowed to sit in on lessons. We have an open door policy.
WHAT IF I’M LATE FOR MY LESSON? +
If you arrive late, your lesson will still end at the scheduled time. This loss of time will not be made up another time.
WHAT IF THE LESSON BEFORE ME IS RUNNING LATE? +
If you arrive on time but the previous lesson runs late, you will still be given your full-allotted time.
WHAT HAPPENS ON SNOW DAYS? +
Song of Stars follows the local school district’s discretion for closures due to severe weather (i.e. snow) and or other issues outside of our control. In the case of a closure a make up lesson with your instructor will be scheduled promptly. If a make up lesson doesn’t work out, you will be issued a refund.
